Patterson to Sheill

This Indenture made the ninth day of May in the year one thousand seven hundred and eighty six between John Patterson and Phebe his wife of the county of Fayette of the one part and Ann Sheill of the County of Lincoln of the other part. Witnesseth that the said John Patterson and Phebe his wife for and in consideration of the sum of eighty pounds lawful money of Virginia to them in hand paid the receipt whereof they do hereby acknoweledge and thereof do release acquit and discharge the said Ann her heirs Exrs. and Admn.trs they the said John Patterson and Phebe his wife have granted, bargained and sold and by these present grant, bargain, sell, alien and confirm unto the said Ann Shiell and to her heirs forever a certain tract or parcel of Land situated lying and being in the county of Lincoln on the Hanging Fork of the Dick's River. Bounded as follows, to wit,

Beginning at a Sugar tree in a Cane Brake running thence North 25 degrees East 198 1/2 poles to a Hickory, Berch and (F)Sugar Tree, thence North 65 degree West 130 2/3 poles to a Mulberry, Elm and Buck Eye, thence South 25 degrees West 245 poles to a Buckeye and Hickory, thence North 65 degrees West 46 1/8 poles to a large Mulberry thence South 25 degrees West 53 2/3 poles to an Afh and Sugar tree, thence South 65 degrees East 293 2/3 poles to the Beginning containing two hundred and ninety four Acres be the same more or afs. part of a Premption of one thousand acres granted the said Patterson. and all the Estate rights title and interest of them the said John Patterson and Phebe his Wife of in and to the said two hundred and ninety four acres of land with its appurtenances together with all Deeds Evidences and Witnegs in any wise belonging to the same. To have and to hold the said land with all and fingular its appurtenances and here attainments unto the said Ann Sheill her Heirs and afsign forever to the only porper use and behoof of the said Ann and her heirs and afigns forever and the said John Patterson & Phebe her wife for themselves their Heirs Ex cs and Adm.rs do hererby Warrant and defend the said two hundred and ninty four acres of land and its appuntenances unto her the said Ann and her Heirs and Assigns against the claim or claims of every person Whatsoever In Witnefs whereof the said John and Phebe his Wife have hereunto set their hands & Seals the day and year first above written.
